Business Coaches and Business Coaching - Exactly what are They?

Sometimes, friends and prospects ask me approach them about how business coaching process would help the growth of their businesses. While they are curious and anxious to do something significantly different from all others to change their results, I have had a few individuals say to me... "it's all stupid, it doesn't work." If you fall in the second sounding people, it would be a complete waste of your time to continue reading.

As opposed to repeating my thoughts whenever I get asked to mention this, I decided that will put it on blog and continue to update it for folks to read and understand.

The objective of every business coaching relationship would be to create sustainable transformation. I've not said this since i read it from any book; instead, my training and working as a business coach, helping and inspiring the growth of many successful organizations and leaders throughout the world has offered me the opportunity deeply understand how businesses behave prior to seeking the help of good business coaches, and just what they become as soon as the coaching process.

Here are my thoughts on the business coaching, executive coaching, or leadership skills training is...

1. Magnificent Vision
Maintaining a magnificent vision is unquestionably the foundation of every successful organization. It's the compass for achieving business objectives with out organization succeeds without creating a compelling vivid vision. Your business coach has the responsibility that will help you clarify your vision, ensuring that what you see aligns with your business objectives and keenness. Your coach challenges you to demonstrate how your vision evolves actually over a period of say; 3 to 5 years (short term), or ten to two decades (long term). This time-traveling process is powerful helping to put you in perspective of the type of goals you wish to achieve for your organization.

By applying effective questioning surrounding this objective to clarify the real reason for your vision, the value it brings, as well as your target beneficiaries (niche); and supporting with genuine encouragement and inspiration, you may begin to see or feel feeling of enlargement in the scope of the you want to achieve, or in which you want to be with your vision. Therefore creates a strong conviction and confidence inside the direction your business is headed.

You must bear in mind that your vision to complete the desired results, the mission and values of one's organization must be clearly defined and intensely over-communicated to your teams, customers, along with other stakeholders. Your coach or business mentor will help you to achieve this.

2. Strategic Action Planning
Every successful organization I know of focus intensely on "identifying and doing" merely the most important things to the success of their business. The main challenge here is usually how to identify, and constantly focus on doing what is most significant.

When business coaching tools are rightly applied it opens the best options you have to implement to achieve your company goals. Not only will you know them, your coach inspires you with the required responsibility for implementing the agreed actions within agreed time lines. Talking of accountability gives mind the thoughts of some of my colleague's on this. Some believe that the word accountability is harsh and frightening to clients.

My belief is always that irrespective of what you refer to it, it is the primary responsibility of commercial owners and leaders to complete whatever is ethically morale to make their organizations successful. They owe it to themselves and every stakeholder, and have the privilege to keep their employees liable for achieving them. But who holds them accountable on the continuous basis to make sure that they are constantly devoted to doing their own area of the work to achieve the overall objective? The Coach needless to say!

I have noticed that in virtually every organization, employees are either scared of expressing their minds to CEOs genuinely, or questioning a number of the decisions they made. The reason being obvious; they are around the organization's payroll and might lose their jobs for acting as to what might be misconstrued as disrespectful or insubordinate manner. This behaviour breeds not enough open, honest, and strong communication in the organization and eventually creates dysfunctional working relationship that sabotages performance and achievement of goals.

In executive coaching or leadership skills training as the case could possibly be, we fill the gap between chief executives, managers or leaders and their employees. We question several of your decisions to make sure that they are in sync with the mission, vision, and values (MVV) of your respective organization. We also allow you to see the impact your decisions will make on your organization, team, and customers... I really hope you're getting the idea?

3. Disciplined Execution
The most effective business coaching strategy will deliver no results until it's backed up with disciplined execution from the client, in this case you. What you will notice is that every day, CEOs, leaders and entrepreneurs develop all kinds of ideas in the name of strategies some of which are great though. They are fully aware what to do but they do not do them, and very often do not know how to do them. This can be one of the major problems most executives face, something I refer to as the "knowing-doing gap."

Execution could be the discipline of putting the proper strategies, actions, and methods to work to create the actual required results. What I have discovered from working with organizations is that it is more difficult to make strategies work compared to to make strategies. Every implementation strategy requires commitment, accountability, and discipline to get the set goals. Execution sits in the overall objective of vision, strategy, and result, without which the later is never achieved.

So where does the business coach come into this? Good question. Experienced business coaches comprehend the existence of this problem and they also support their clients to consider baby steps, focusing on the littlest but most important part of the actions to get started. As the client progresses within the execution process, week after week and begins to feel positive energy because of working with someone he trusts (the coach) that neither judge nor ridicule him when mistakes are made, his confidence increases and he takes on more work. Precisely the same is also true with his team as the coach works with the crooks to help develop the same level of commitment and execution.

4. Skills Upgrade
Like i said previously earlier, the primary intent behind every business coaching relationship would be to create transformation in the commercial organization. In an ideal situation, your coach won't leave you at the same spot he met you. It's impossible!

Why have I said this?

During the business coaching process, your coach looks out for almost any skills-gap that might be impacting your company negatively. Typical of these are leadership skills, communication, delegation, personal time management, team building, customer/stakeholder relationships, effective planning, marketing and sales, and much more. He supplies the support and motivation to enable you to upgrade and become far better in managing these areas to generate more effective organization and get extra-ordinary results.
